URGENT APPEAL FOR AID: SUPPORT FILIPINO COMMUNITIES
DEVASTATED BY TYPHOONS KALMAEGI AND UWAN
Call to action from Migrante Australia.
November 2025.
In just two weeks, the Philippines has been battered by two powerful tropical cyclones — Typhoon Kalmaegi (Tino) and Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong) — leaving widespread devastation in their wake.
Central Philippines was hardest hit by Typhoon Kalmaegi, which has already claimed over 220 lives, injured hundreds more, and left dozens missing. Many perished from drowning and falling debris as the storm’s violent 184 km/h winds tore through communities.
Before the nation could recover, Super Typhoon Uwan struck Luzon on November 9, bringing winds of up to 185 km/h and inundating vast regions, from Bicol Region, Southern Tagalog to Metro Manila and Northern Luzon. Areas that were not hit directly by strong winds are inundated by flood.
The timely warning and early evacuations saved many lives, but the destruction to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods is staggering.
Now, as floodwaters subside, a new crisis is unfolding — outbreaks of disease, food shortages, and worsening conditions in overcrowded evacuation centres. Millions of displaced families are struggling to survive while government relief remains insufficient to meet the massive humanitarian need.
Migrante Australia, a Filipino migrant network, has been at the forefront of humanitarian and advocacy work for over two decades. Known for its transparent, community-driven relief efforts and partnerships with credible local organizations, Migrante ensures that every dollar reaches those most in need.
Through our partnership with Migrante International and the Consortium for People’s Development–Disaster Response (CPD-DR), we ensure that all funds raised go directly to on-the-ground relief operations — providing urgent essentials such as food, medicine, and clean water to affected families.
We are calling on Filipinos, Australians, and friends to join us in this life-saving mission. Every contribution counts. Every moment matters. Help is urgently needed.
