The AUKUS military pact is about nuclear submarines and dragging Australia, United States and United Kingdom closer to a US-led war in the Asia-Pacific and further environmental destruction.
IPAN calculates it will cost Australian people via the Government set to spend
$33M (that’s million) per day over 30 years
on nuclear subs that may never arrive.
It will bleed money and resources, draining or restricting much needed public services such as housing, health, education, income support and child care.
This will drive more Australians into poverty, and across the world deepen inequality.
In 2022, over 3.4 million people in Australia lived in poverty, including 761,000 children, increasing further since.
Yet millions are spent daily on weapons of war, not people and peace.
